Been busy

A lot has happened since my last post...but not for me. Congrats to Eric and Anna on their beautiful baby, Isaiah. Congrats also to Ryan and Lorie on their marriage.

Had a nice break from the residency last week. Took a week vacation to go see Mandy in Boston. We spent a couple days in cozy Ogunquit, Maine at a B & B. Much to my chagrin, B & B does not mean beer & brats. Once I found out it meant bed & breakfast, I wasn't too disapointed. It was very relaxing, we got to eat some good seafood, though it seems that there was a large proportion of older adults there. Spent the rest of the week walking around downtown Boston and hanging out with Mandy's friends. It was a much needed respite.

The residency itself is going pretty well at this time. I haven't had to be on call at all this month since I'm in clinic. 8 am-5 pm everyday. Much easier hours. And most of the time, it's seeing healthy babies for their vaccinations and regular check-ups. It's very uplifting to see such healthy kids after working on the floors for the previous two months seeing really sick kids. And it's very fulfilling interacting with the parents, seeing what they're doing right and pointing out ways to improve their care for their kids. Occasionally, I see a sick kid who needs help, which keeps me on my toes and is also very fulfilling.

Michigan football is not looking great right now. It took a great 4th quarter against Miami of Ohio to put them away, a tough loss at Notre Dame and then they barely get by San Diego State. (Did you get a lot of flack there, Galvez?) I think that today they found a solid RB, but things need to solidify next week as they enter the Big 10 season. Especially against an Iowa team that has beaten Michigan the past couple of years. I have the feeling it's going to be one of those seasons where you feel like you're gonna have a heart attack every Saturday afternoon if you're a Michigan fan.
