End of the year

Belated Merry Christmas to all.

Vacation has been good. This is the first time in a real long time (probably since college) that I took a vacation without going anywhere. Very relaxing. No standing in line to take off my shoes and get full-body scanned. No worrying about making flights or carry-on luggage.

But a few more things to deal with. Like finding a place and date for a wedding reception. And budgets. We looked at about 8 places for the reception. Have the list knocked down to 2 or 3 potential places. Just have to work out a few details and we'll set down the deposit and reserve our date in the next couple of weeks. Finally!

The date has been an ever lingering question whenever I meet up with people. It generally comes up within the first 5 minutes of conversation. We'll have the answer for you right shortly. I've been wondering myself for a good amount of time, too.
-------------------------------------------------------
Each year seems to go by faster. I barely remember 2004, yet there have been so many landmark moments for me. Got engaged to begin the year. Finished medical school. Bounced around Europe. Started residency. And those are just the big moments. Interspersed amongst those big moments I dabbled in a sales job at the mall, watched friends get married and have children, played some poker and soccer. And interspersed amongst that were everyday moments, getting to know the people I work with, missing the people I haven't seen, loving those people who are close to me.

With such big moments, I re-prioritized things. I learned how to live without owning a television (going on 6 months now). I focused on work. I got into better shape. I learned to take advantage of opportunities, whether they be financial, occupational or social.

Yet with everything that has happened in the blink that was 2004, there's still so much that I would like to/need to do. Continue to learn about medicine. Practice at finishing in soccer. Plan a wedding.

Here's looking forward to 2005. Happy New Year to all.
