Washing up....
Random thoughts today while doing my laundry:
- Thanks to those who tuned in to give me information about their cellular service. I had no idea so many people were with Verizon. Now, I just need someone to come over to use their phone to see how well Verizon works at my place. If it works out, I may be "in" soon.
- Does anyone have an article of clothing they can't seem to part with? I have this T-shirt that I got in freshman year of college- it has Beavis and Butthead at Michigan Stadium throwing flaming marshmellows on the back and the scoreboard says: Michigan 69, State 0. It's turned into a work-out shirt and is quite tattered- one of the extra holes in the shirt is enough to stick a third arm through. I must have washed the shirt a couple of hundred times. And I can't bring myself to throw it out.
- Socks: I have about 8 pairs of white socks of a single brand. Is it me or does everyone try to match up the white socks according to the shade that they are? I try to pair the whiter socks with each other and the dirtier-looking socks with each other. And there are always 3-4 socks that don't quite match up right. Of course, with my colored socks, I match them up according to color and pattern.
- Lint: I have wondered how so much lint can be produced in a single load of laundry. The amount of lint that I pull out makes me think that whole pieces of clothing should disintegrate every 4th load.
- How do you determine how dressy a place is supposed to be? I'm going out to a loungy bar tonight and am in a dilemma as to which clothes to wear. Are jeans ok? Do I wear the dressy jeans? Tucked or untucked? Polo shirt or button-down? I tend to over shoot the "dressiness" of events. I would rather find myself over-dressed for something than under-dressed. And why am I so stressed out about this? I dunno. I just am.
- I am happy to see that the social scene around downtown Detroit is picking up quite nicely. I took a walk around last night and found a bunch of places which were packed with people. They looked like cool places to hang out in from time to time.
- During that walk last night, I found a way to catch free views of Tiger games from right-center field. It's a decent view and a handful of people were doing it.
- With all of the construction happening on all the freeways around here to get ready for the Super Bowl, why is it all just now getting fixed? People obviously knew there was a lot of improvement that was needed. If it was done before, there wouldn't be such a rush now and it wouldn't be such a pain every weekend as half of the freeways get closed off unannounced.
- Finally, I just about cut my gas consumption in half to one-third now that I've been biking to work. The way gas prices are, I should be able to recoup the cost of the bike by about next year. If it were only practical to bike through the winter, then I'd really be saving a load of cash.

Time for a switch
So amongst the numerous phone calls with my girlfriend are an annoying series of dropped calls. As many of you may know, I have found no use for a land line (see entry from 5/1/04). Since I rely on my cell phone for telecommunication, the frequency of dropped calls is an important issue.
I have been a loyal Sprint customer for about 7-8 years now. And I have just come to the end of my last 2-year contract. It is time for a change. I'm reaching out into blog-space for help.
Which cellular phone services are people subscribing to right now?
How satisfied are you with your cellular phone service?
What are some of the features of your cellular phone service which you find to be essential?
What are some of the features of your cellular phone service which you could do without?
The more information, the better.
