Fall-time

I think it's kind of funny that with regard to the seasons, people often say winter time, summer time, spring time.....but I never hear anyone say fall time.

The fall is what I find unique about the Midwest. It's a well-defined season....the sun is hot during the day, it gets chilly at night, the wind blows crisply and the days get much shorter. There's the explosion of color that greets your eyes with the change in the leaves, the smell of spiced cider in the air, pumpkins in the market asking to be painted or made into pie. Children are both excited about and dreading the new school year.

And most importantly.....football to be played.

It was disappointing to hear about Michigan losing to Notre Dame (I say "hear about" because, once again, I am without television). Especially since it was in Ann Arbor and it sounds like our vaunted offense had trouble getting into the end zone. Admittedly, the day ended well with OSU losing to Texas in a nail-biter. Then the Lions went out teasing us again by beating the Packers 17-3, albeit it didn't sound as convincing as the score appears. Let's hope they can keep it up through the whole season and finish up above .500.

Ahhh....the joys of fall time.
